Requirements Overview
Indiana Registered Nurse: No CE Required
Fee for renewal is $50. There are no CEU requirements; however, all licensed nurses are expected to maintain skills and knowledge sufficient to remain competent to practice. Registered nurse (RN) licenses expire 10/31 of odd numbered years. Licensed practical nurse (LPN) licenses expires 10/31 of even numbered years.
If your license has been expired more than 3 years you will need to submit a renewal form, $100.00 check or money order (Made out to IPLA) and a copy of a current license. If you do not have a current license, please follow these instructions:
For RN and LPN licensees expired more than 3 years but less than 10 years, this requirement is satisfied upon providing proof of completing 24 contact hours of continuing education for nurses from an accredited provider of CE for nurses: 6 contact hours each, dealing with the following 4 subject areas:
- Assessment
- Documentation
- Pharmacology
- Legal/Ethics
Please send in a copy of your CEs with your renewal form. You can find instructions on how to do so here. Once a renewal form is submitted, you have 30 days to submit the CEs documentation. If you go past the 30 days, you will be required to make an appearance before the board.
