Idaho Advanced Practice Registered Nurse: 30 Hours Required

Idaho Board of Nursing Rule Change
New Continuing Competency Requirements take effect starting all 2019 renewals and afterwards. In order to renew, RNs must complete two (2) of the follow in accordance to IDAPA 23.01.01.061.
- Hold a current nursing specialty certification as defined in Section 402 or complete least 100 hours of practice or simulation practice
- Complete 15 CE hours of continuing education, complete a minimum of one (1) semester credit hour of post-licensure academic education, complete a board-recognized refresher course, or participate in or present a workshop, seminar, or conference relevant to nursing
- Be an acknowledged contributor to a published nursing-related article, teach or develop a nursing-related course, or participate in related professional activities approved by the board

Steps To Complete
- Complete required continuing education hours.
- Complete renewal information and application and pay your appropriate renewal fee for desired license status by mail or online.
More information
- The provider of your continuing education must be
- A nationally recognized nursing organization
- An accredited academic institution
- A provider of continuing education recognized by another board of nursing
- A provider of continuing education recognized by a regulatory body of another discipline (e.g. CME, CPE, telemedicine)
- Approved by the Board of Nursing
- Content must be related to the practice of the APRN
- Acceptable CE activities will include activities identified in #1 above and in addition, may include
- Participation as the presenter of approved continuing education programs identified in #1 (presenting continuing education programs may not be your primary job responsibility)
- Participation in related professional activities including but not limited to research, published material, teaching, peer review, precepting and professional auditing. A total of no more than three (3) CE hours may be awarded for related professional activities;
- You must produce evidence of documentation of completion of the continuing education activity (e.g. transcript, certificate, verification letter, etc.) upon request.
